Alberta continues to generate its quota in assisting Canada in achieving its dream of welcoming over one million candidates in the next three years. This is evident in its recent release of its February 20th Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) draw which invited a total of 150 Express Entry candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores as low as 300. Selected candidates need to have profiles in the federal Express Entry Stream.
Aspiring candidates who become eligible for the Express Entry pool are ranked based on four core human factors such as work experience, education, official language proficiency, and age. They are then given a CRS score, whereby the highest scoring candidates receive a nomination otherwise known as an Invitation To Apply.
A provincial nomination from Alberta or any other province guarantees an automatic additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking Score points towards their overall CRS score which places them one step further to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence.
Required Qualification for the Alberta Express Entry Stream.
In total, Alberta has issued 651 to Express Entry candidates who have proven to be most qualified to meet all Alberta’s labor market needs at the time of selection.
To increase their chances of selection and a receipt of an invitation from the Alberta Immigrant Nominee stream, Express Entry candidates need to have been working in an occupation that supports Alberta’s “economic development and diversification priorities”.
Although a job offer from Alberta is not a selection necessity for this stream, AINP expresses that it might give priority to candidates who meet the following three criteria:
- a job offer and/or work experience in Alberta;
- a degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer; or
- a parent, child or sibling already living in the province.
Now, From every indication, 2019 can be regarded as a swell year for Alberta as we witnessed that its total invitation to apply issued to candidates estimated to 11,137 and we expect that 2020 would exceed these numbers.
