The province of Manitoba issued 243 invitations last April 8 of this year to apply for provincial nomination. Invitations distributed through provincial nomination programs are firm support for final applications for Canadian permanent residence. A total of 1870 candidates have already received invitation from Manitoba Provincial Nomination Program (MPNP) since January that is divided into three streams: Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas, and International Education Stream. Both skilled workers stream require submission of an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile from the candidates.
An overview of the results from the recent draw:
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba – 208 invitations with a minimum EOI score of 456;
- Skilled Workers Overseas – 14 invitations with a minimum EOI score of 708; and
- International Education Stream – 21 invitations with no EOI score requirement. A total of 15 invitations or Letters of Advice to Apply went to Express Entry candidates
Immigration in Manitoba
Various industries and line of work are mostly in demand in Manitoba. The federal government supports its immigration programs in each province since Canadian provinces can only do nominations or invitations, not granting residency. Issuance of Manitoba Provincial Nomination Program invitations and all other provincial nomination programs, in general, are helpful in supporting individuals seeking permanent residency status.
Scoring is based on educational and work credentials. Relatives or connections to the province are also factors. For the Skilled Workers Overseas stream and Skilled Workers in Manitoba, these have substantial edges in meeting the demands of Manitoba’s labour market, helping boosts its provincial economy.
With the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream, a dedicated full-time job offer from an employer in Manitoba as well is required to receive an invitation.
International Students who concluded their studies in Manitoba can receive a Letter of Advice to Apply under the International Education Stream once they show potential with their skills and capabilities.
Manitoba’s Express Entry
For those who do not want to take the provincial nomination program, it is possible through Express Entry. But as mentioned earlier in the article, provincial nomination programs are strong support or can guarantee that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will invite those candidates for permanent residency.
Through Express Entry, you need to register a profile on the website of the government of Canada. You will be ranked based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), factoring age, education and work background and language proficiency. Similar to the provincial nomination program, the best scoring candidates get invitations by the Express Entry draws.
