RECENT UPDATES ON TEMPORARY FOREIGN WORKER PROGRAM PROCEDURES FOR OWNER-OPERATOR LMIA | Loft Immigration

Attention to all aspiring immigrants via the Owner/Operator LMIA stream. Canada immigration policies will be updated starting April 01, 2021, on the special Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP). Owner/Operator candidates’ assessment will be in the same manner as other TFWP applicants

In the current procedures, candidates in this category are exempted from advertising and recruitment requirements in obtaining an affirmative Labor Market Impact Assessment.

The Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) says, “As part of regular policy reviews to ensure the TFWP continues to work within its intended purpose and is only used by employers to fill a position when qualified Canadians or permanent residents are not available.”

Applicants of the Owner-Operator program are the ones who qualify for a work permit by purchasing a business and moving to Canada. They are the major shareholder and have full control over their intended business.
