Canada is mobilizing extended municipalities and native communities for economic recovery from post-pandemic by significant investments like in Thunder Bay. The Canadian government invests $1 million in Northern Ontario to attract new immigrants to boost the economy. The Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario, also known as FedNor, is supporting this investment.
Members of the Parliament for Thunder Bay, Marcus Powlowski and Patty Hajdu, announced the million-dollar plan to the Thunder Bay-Superior North region this month. The budget aims to develop the indigenous communities and produce logical jobs for both locals and foreigners.
The plan is amiable through platforms such as welcoming immigrants to the Thunder Bay-Superior North region. Occupations that are in demand will meet the employers’ required job conditions in the Thunder Bay area. This process goes with provincial nomination programs and federal Express Entry, where they find applicants that suits in-demand jobs in the provinces.
“Today’s announcement will enhance tourism and further accelerate community economic development and business growth here at home in Northwestern Ontario. Our government’s focus on economic diversification and immigration will support a strong economic recovery that is inclusive, sustainable, and creates good jobs for families throughout Thunder Bay-Superior North,” said Hajdu.
To support Canada’s Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RINP), Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission received an investment of about $490,500. This budget can help people in business in the area widen their knowledge of immigration options to meet their labour demographics. In lieu, it promotes work and training diversity for the local employers.
